'Out of the Woods' Craving solitude and silence, this new series is a response to the pressures felt throughout the year. Featuring women in the pine forest, the works portray a melancholic atmosphere and while there is a cold and lonely mood to the paintings, the subjects give the impression of being pensive rather than troubled. Though the paintings do not all feature my face, they are indirect self portraits. Previous works have been influenced more by the fantasy of a desired state of mind, laying in the sun without worries. This series is more an accurate depiction of the way I deal with stress, escaping to nature where I feel most comfortable, to relieve the tension.
